New 2013 DAT Breakdowns!

2013 DAT Breakdowns DAT Breakdowns are helpful reviews of the whole "DAT process" written by members of the Student Doctor Network who have already taken the test. They usually consist of a person giving their thoughts about how review materials compared to the actual test in difficulty, their thoughts of how useful the materials they used were, background about themselves etc. Don't overlook breakdowns because they are short as you can often find the valuable answers to questions asked in the thread of the breakdown! Below is a list of ALL  breakdowns written in 2013 (list will be continually compiled as more are written)! The scores are arranged from highest to lowest AA. The format of the numbers stand for:  AA/TS/PAT. So 25/24/29 corresponds to an Academic Average of 25, a Total Science Score of 24 and a PAT score of 29. 26/25/22 by jimmpannzee 26//24/21 by tillerybass 25/30/22 by Slumber 25/27/22 by obeserabbit 25/26/24 by hunterx2 25/26/20 by gogate 24/24/25 by piranha 24/24/22 by stebe 24/23/20 by Centry 23/24/21 by xatlasb 23/24/19 by nguyen3706 23/23/23 by dakongpitoy 22/24/20 by numberonephan 22/24/19 by Fadyamerican 22/23/24 by BigCountry 22/23/22 by BMEEngineer 22/23/22 by hl4jn 22/23/22 by kang17 22/23/22 by J777 22/22/19 by nirjar2212 22/22/19 by mcoope44 22/21/23 by hoopraeb 22/21/22 by itsmesmoothe 22/21/22 by lmcole3 22/21/22 by power5643 21/22/21 by topshelf 21/22/19 by KyoPhan 21/22/16 by kgupta3 21/21/21 by Buudo 21/21/21 by krysta1 21/20/21 by Campbepk 21/20/21 by pfg459 21/20/21 by TheHostess 21/19/23 by ahopers 20/21/20 by roquer2 20/21/17 by romoxx23 20/20/21 by missdiana 20/20/21 by tayloreve 20/18/20 by shrister 19/19/25 by ddsJD 19/19/21 by badart97   (Last Update: 6/14/2013)

The DAT Destroyer – A must have DAT Prep book to help you deciminate the DAT

The DAT Destroyer authored by Dr. Jim Romano is a must have for anyone preparing for the DAT. It is an invaluable tool and will help solidify your knowledge in the sciences. It offers hundreds of practice problems in Biology, General and Organic Chemistry, and Quantitative Reasoning. The questions are known to be very difficult, and it is often discouraging for many who go through it for the first time feeling as if they know nothing, but FEAR NOT! If you press on and learn the concepts behind these questions, you WILL PERFORM WELL on the DAT. The questions are all multiple choice, just like the real DAT. To make most efficient use of the DAT Destroyer, it is essential that you understand why an answer is the the answer and why the other answers are wrong. The detailed explanations Dr. Romano offers in the solutions section of the book will help greatly with this. MAKE SURE you learn all of them! For those of you that are rusty in the sciences, I highly recommend that you brush up on your concepts with other books like Cliffs AP Bio. or the Kaplan Blue Book, as going through the DAT Destroyer without a decent grasp of science concepts can be very de-motivating. But as stated earlier, if you persevere and learn the concepts in this book, you will be rewarded with very high science scores (20+ for most). Finally, if you are feeling stumped and need live support, Dr. Romano lists his number for direct 1 on 1 support! He really stands behind his product and so do many others that have successfully Destroyed the DAT! You can get it at Brand New or used at a great price at eBay.

Studying for The Biology Section of the DAT, 2 Good Books to Prep for DAT Biology

DAT Biology Below is a list of topics that are covered on the DAT Biology test, as listed by the ADA on the DAT portion of their website: The scope of the test covers a wide range of topics, but the questions are not as in depth as one might see in a class devoted to a specific topic like Ecology. Major Biology Topics to Know for the DAT Cell and Molecular Biology Origin of life Cell metabolism (including photosynthesis/enzymology) Cellular processes Thermodynamics Organelle structure and function Mitosis/meiosis Cell structure Experimental cell biology Diversity of Life Biological Organization and Relationship of Major Taxa (Six-Kingdom, Three-Domain System) – plantae, animalia, protista, fungi, eubacteria (bacteria), archae, etc. Structure and Function of Systems Integumentary Skeletal muscular Circulatory Immunological Digestive Respiratory Urinary Nervous/senses  Endocrine Reproductive Developmental Biology  Fertilization Descriptive embryology Developmental mechanisms Experimental embryology Genetics Molecular genetics, Human genetics Classical genetics Chromosomal genetics Genetic technology Evolution, Ecology, and Behavior Natural selection Population genetics/speciation Cladistics Population and community ecology Ecosystems Animal behavior (including social behavior) Two great test prep materials that I highly recommend using for preparing for this section and brushing up on your Biology are: Cliffs AP Bio Book and Kaplan's Blue Book. Kaplan's Blue Book has material for each and every section on the DAT. It is a great resource to refresh yourself with the general concepts of many of the topics tested on the DAT. However, I would not recommend using only KBB to prepare, as it does not everything. As I was preparing for my test, I read many good recommendations about the Cliff's AP Biology Prep Book. It is not super in depth, but it does cover a very wide array of topics. Also it's very easy on your wallet! You can sometimes find a great deal on these books used at eBay or, but I often find that Amazon has the cheapest prices, used or new. Buying both of these books NEW will probably cost around $55-60, including shipping. Not a bad investment to improve your DAT score!
